The Information Management Center for Land and Water Resources hosted the quarterly meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Coordination Committee (IMCC), together with the Technical Lead of the SWALIM Office (FAO Somaliland). The meeting was chaired by Mr. Mohamed Said Mahmoud, Director General of the Ministry of Planning and National Development. The meeting focused on advancing the Land and Water Data Management Project, enhancing collaboration among government institutions, and preparing a formal legal framework for the National Information Management Center (IMC). Participants also discussed the need for political and legal support to ensure the project’s long-term effectiveness and sustainability. Directors General from the Ministries of Livestock, Environment, Agriculture, and Water were in attendance. The discussions underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation and the acceleration of a modern, integrated data-sharing platform. The IMC Project Manager reported steady progress, with ongoing data collection on land and water resources, staff training, and the development of digital maps and datasets aligned with national planning needs. In conclusion, the meeting agreed on the preparation of a formal legal structure for the Information Management Center for Land and Water Resources. The session ended successfully.
