The Somaliland Information Management Center (IMC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture Development and with technical support from FAO SWALIM, has released the Weekly Weather Forecast for 30 September–06 October 2026. Moderate rainfall of 50–100 mm is expected in localized parts of Hargeisa, Sheikh, Berbera, Ceel-Afweyn, Ceerigaabo and Oodweyne districts. Light rainfall of 30–50 mm is expected across additional parts of Maroodijeex, Togdheer, Sanaag, and Saaxil, while lower rainfall amounts are anticipated across parts of Sool and other areas. The anticipated rainfall may provide short-term improvements in soil moisture, surface water availability, pasture regeneration, and livestock access to water. However, localized intense showers could generate flash runoff, erosion, and temporary flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and near seasonal streams, while unpaved roads may experience temporary deterioration. As the Deyr season develops, communities, farmers, pastoralists, and relevant authorities are encouraged to continue monitoring daily and weekly forecasts, particularly in flood-prone locations, and use available climate and water information to support preparedness and decision-making.
